An 18-year-old man from Sahibganj district in Jharkhand tragically drowned after jumping into deep water from a considerable height to create an Instagram reel, police reported on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Monday evening when the man, identified as Tausif, leaped from a height of approximately 100 feet into a quarry lake. Despite efforts by his friends, who were swimming nearby, they were unable to save him.

Locals and police were alerted, prompting a search operation. Unfortunately, his body was later recovered from the lake.

A video capturing the incident has gone viral on social media. It shows Tausif making the daring jump while a friend records. However, shortly after hitting the water, he struggled to swim and began to drown.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Kushwaha explained that the young man lost control after jumping into the deep water and subsequently drowned.
