These appointments will restore the Supreme Court to its full sanctioned strength of 34 judges, including the Chief Justice.
Justice N Kotiswar Singh, currently serving as the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir, has made history by becoming the first judge from Manipur to be appointed to the Supreme Court. His elevation marks a significant milestone for the representation of the northeastern state in the nation's highest judiciary.
Justice R Mahadevan, who is presently the acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, also joins the Supreme Court. Known for his contributions to the legal field, Justice Mahadevan's appointment is expected to bring valuable perspectives to the apex court.
