During the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a sharp critique of Republican candidate Donald Trump, calling him "unserious" but warning that the consequences of his potential return to the White House were anything but.
"Donald Trump is an unserious man," Harris said, "but putting him back in the White House has serious consequences." She accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for president, stressing the significance of the 2024 election, which she called "one of the most important in our nation's history."
Harris pointed out the risks of Trump's leadership, particularly his inclination to "pull our country back to the past." She urged Americans to imagine a second Trump term, stating, "Just imagine Donald Trump with no guardrails."
Reflecting on the Capitol riot, Harris recalled, "Donald Trump tried to overturn your votes, and when he failed, he incited an armed mob to attack the Capitol." She emphasized that during the chaos, Trump not only refused to intervene but "fanned the flames" of violence.
She also warned of Trump's explicit intent to free violent extremists and crack down on journalists and political opponents, urging voters to "consider" what a second term could mean for the country.
