Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has stirred a fresh political debate after alleging that Rahul Gandhi’s conduct makes some women Members of Parliament uneasy.
Speaking in New Delhi during the ongoing parliamentary session, Ranaut criticised Gandhi’s public interactions, accusing him of lacking decorum and using language she described as inappropriate in formal settings. She also contrasted his behaviour with that of his sister, Priyanka Gandhi, praising her for what she called a more composed and respectful approach.
Opposition leaders respond
Ranaut’s remarks were quickly challenged by leaders from opposition parties. Priyanka Chaturvedi of the Shiv Sena (UBT) dismissed the allegations, stating that she had never experienced any discomfort around Rahul Gandhi.
She further defended him by pointing to his consistent public stance on women’s issues and the broader legacy of his family in advocating gender respect.
No visible support for claims
So far, no other women MPs have publicly echoed Ranaut’s concerns. Meanwhile, circulating videos from Parliament show Gandhi interacting calmly with colleagues, adding another dimension to the ongoing political exchange.
Debate widens beyond remarks
The episode has intensified friction between ruling and opposition benches, with discussions extending beyond personal conduct to broader questions of political rhetoric, parliamentary behaviour, and mutual respect.
As the controversy unfolds, it continues to fuel partisan debate both inside and outside Parliament.
