A man in Karnataka stirred controversy after accusing grocery delivery app Blinkit of "threatening" him with a Hindi notification, igniting a debate on social media. Identified by his username @Metikurke, he expressed anger over receiving a notification in Hindi rather than Kannada, calling it "Hindi imposition."

The issue began when @Metikurke received a notification from Blinkit stating, “Suno ji! Dekho yeh order 12 minutes mein deliver ho bhi gaya (Hi, this order was delivered in 12 minutes)". He interpreted the use of Hindi and the word 'gaya' as offensive, as it translates to 'wound' in Kannada.

In a post that has since gone viral, @Metikurke shared screenshots of his conversation with Blinkit's customer support, where he threatened to file a police complaint if he continued to receive notifications in languages he couldn't understand.

Blinkit responded, clarifying that their notifications were not threats but standard updates. However, @Metikurke insisted on receiving notifications in Kannada and criticized automated responses.

Following his complaint, @Metikurke noted that Blinkit had switched to sending notifications only in English for over a month, suggesting his action prompted the change and advocating for more complaints to introduce Kannada notifications.

The incident sparked backlash on social media, with many users criticizing @Metikurke for exaggerating a minor issue. Some labeled him as "jobless" for making a controversy out of language preferences, while others found his stance unnecessary and mocked his sensitivity.

Karnataka has a history of pro-Kannada protests, including demands for businesses to prominently display Kannada signage. Despite some support for @Metikurke online, the majority of reactions condemned his reaction to Blinkit's notification practices.

Blinkit has not publicly responded to @Metikurke's viral post, which has garnered significant attention and debate across social media platforms.
