Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approached the Supreme Court seeking a seven-day extension of his interim bail in connection with the liquor policy scam, citing medical reasons. Kejriwal claims to have faced health complications during his custody, partly due to the negligence of jail authorities.

In his plea, the AAP leader highlighted that his interim bail was primarily used for campaigning, requiring extensive travel across Delhi and India within a short period. Despite health issues, he managed only a home check-up by a senior physician from a reputed city hospital.

According to Kejriwal's plea, his recent health assessment revealed weight loss of six to seven kilograms, along with symptoms like dizziness, palpitations, and lethargy. Test results also indicated elevated blood glucose and ketone levels, hinting at possible kidney complications.

The senior physician recommended a series of tests, including a whole-body PET-CT and a Holter Monitor Test, to assess heart irregularities. However, Kejriwal's campaigning commitments in Punjab limited his ability to undergo these tests sequentially within the required timeframe before his surrender deadline.

Kejriwal, released on interim bail for campaigning during the Lok Sabha polls, faces surrender on June 2. The requested extension aims to complete essential tests to safeguard his health before potential further incarceration, avoiding any exacerbation of health issues.

The plea underscores the importance of prioritizing Kejriwal's health and ensuring necessary medical evaluations to prevent long-term harm.
