Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed heartfelt condolences on Thursday following the death of Ratan Tata, the Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus and veteran industrialist. Tata, 86, passed away at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment after a sudden drop in blood pressure. Reports indicated that he was in critical condition in the hospital's intensive care unit.

In a tribute shared on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi described Tata as a "visionary business leader and compassionate soul" who led one of India's oldest and most esteemed business houses with unwavering commitment. Modi emphasized that Tata's influence extended far beyond the boardroom, highlighting his humility and dedication to societal betterment.

"Shri Ratan Tata Ji was an extraordinary human being whose leadership provided stability to one of India’s most prestigious business houses. His contributions extended well beyond business, as he touched the hearts of many with his kindness, humility, and commitment to societal welfare," Modi stated. He also praised Tata's philanthropic work, particularly in education, healthcare, sanitation, and animal welfare.

Reflecting on his personal interactions with Tata, PM Modi recalled frequent meetings during his tenure as Gujarat’s Chief Minister. "We would exchange views on various issues, and I found his perspectives deeply enriching. Our conversations continued after I moved to Delhi. I am deeply pained by his passing. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and admirers. Om Shanti," he added.

President Droupadi Murmu also expressed her condolences, describing Tata as an iconic figure who seamlessly blended corporate success with nation-building. "He took forward the illustrious Tata legacy and expanded its global presence, while always maintaining excellence and ethics. His philanthropic work has been invaluable. My condolences go out to his family, the Tata Group, and his many admirers worldwide," she remarked.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi joined in mourning Tata’s death, referring to him as a man with vision whose impact on business and philanthropy will be remembered. "Ratan Tata has left an indelible mark on both industry and social causes. My deepest sympathies go to his family and the Tata community," Gandhi shared on X.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute, calling Tata a "legendary industrialist and true nationalist" whose dedication to India's progress was remarkable. "His commitment to the welfare of our country inspired countless dreams. His legacy will remain in the hearts of the nation," Shah said.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin described Tata as a "true titan of Indian industry" whose humility and compassion set him apart. "India has lost a giant, but his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. My deepest condolences to his family, colleagues, and the Tata Group during this difficult time," Stalin posted.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also conveyed his sympathies, noting Tata’s monumental contributions to India's economy and industry. "He was a true titan, and his impact on our nation will endure. My deepest condolences to his family and admirers. May his soul rest in peace," Singh said.
