27-02-2025Delhi experienced light rainfall today, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert for the National Capital Region (NCR). The rain brought some respite after the city recorded its hottest February day in 19 years just a day earlier.
On Tuesday, Delhi’s maximum temperature surged to 32 degrees Celsius, exceeding the seasonal average by six degrees. The last time such a high February temperature was observed was on February 22, 2006.
The IMD's forecast for Thursday predicts a maximum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 18 degrees Celsius.
According to the weather department, the rain in Delhi is likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms. Similar weather conditions are expected in nearby NCR cities, including Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Yamunanagar.
Additionally, several regions in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall in the coming hours.
On Tuesday, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 15.4 degrees Celsius, nearly three degrees above normal. Humidity levels fluctuated between 86% and 59% throughout the day.
Despite the rain, the national capital’s air quality remained in the 'poor' category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 247, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board.
Last week, light rain and drizzle had also impacted Delhi, leading to a dip in temperatures, which hovered around 16-17 degrees Celsius.
