09-10-2025LinkedIn has rolled out a major upgrade to its popular ‘Open to Work’ feature, giving job seekers more control over how they present themselves to potential employers. With this update, users can now share their notice period and expected annual salary, helping recruiters better understand candidate availability and expectations upfront.
Earlier, the feature only displayed an Open to Work badge on a user’s profile, signalling job readiness to recruiters. Now, the addition of salary and notice period aims to make hiring more transparent and efficient, reducing mismatches in job discussions.
These enhanced options will be available exclusively to LinkedIn Premium members for now. The platform clarified that this information will be visible only to recruiters, and users can choose whether or not to display it.
LinkedIn highlighted that its Open to Work feature has already benefited millions, with 85% of users receiving support or job leads after activating it. By including salary and notice period details, LinkedIn hopes to eliminate irrelevant offers and speed up the recruitment process.
The new features are being rolled out to Indian users, allowing them to customise how they signal job availability.
However, LinkedIn acknowledged that while the feature hides a user’s Open to Work status from their current employer, absolute privacy cannot be guaranteed.
Additionally, the Microsoft-owned platform confirmed that user data may be used to train AI models across LinkedIn and other Microsoft divisions — part of its ongoing efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into professional networking.
