A 25-year-old man, Abdul Musavir Nadukandee from Kerala, was arrested for allegedly assaulting cabin crew and attempting to open the door of an Air India Express flight from Kozhikode to Bahrain, leading to an emergency landing in Mumbai, police reported.

The incident occurred on Saturday, June 1. Nadukandee reportedly woke up after takeoff and headed to the back of the plane, where he allegedly attacked the cabin crew and tried to open the aircraft door, according to a police official.

After being subdued by the crew, Nadukandee continued to verbally abuse and assault other passengers and threatened to open the emergency door.

Concerned about the security risk, the pilot diverted the flight to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and alerted security officials.

Upon landing, Nadukandee was arrested and now faces multiple charges, including endangering life, provocation to breach of peace, criminal intimidation, assault, and violations of the Aircraft Act.
