25-12-2024A man identified as Jitendra from Bagpat, Uttar Pradesh, set himself on fire near Parliament on Wednesday, sustaining severe burns. He was promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The incident occurred in a park close to Rail Bhavan, the headquarters of the Indian Railways. According to officials, the man then ran towards Parliament House after setting himself ablaze.
A partially burned two-page note was discovered at the site, but its contents remain unclear. Investigators also recovered petrol at the scene, suggesting it was used in the act.
Police suspect that the man attempted self-immolation due to personal struggles he has been facing.
