A 19-year-old woman from Tripura is fighting for her life after she was allegedly attacked by her live-in partner in Gurugram. The accused, also 19, has been arrested, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
According to officials, the young woman was pursuing biotechnology at GD Goenka University and had been staying with the accused in a rented flat in Sector 69. The two reportedly met in September 2025 and later moved in together. Conversations around marriage had already begun, with families said to be involved in preliminary discussions.
The matter surfaced when the victim’s mother contacted the police, alleging that her daughter had been brutally assaulted. Authorities said the accused had recently begun doubting her character, which may have triggered tensions between the couple.
Police teams rushed to the residence and apprehended the accused from the premises.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Hitesh Yadav stated that the woman was first taken to a local government hospital in critical condition. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, she was later referred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Initial findings indicate that a late-night argument spiralled into physical violence. Medical examination reports have confirmed multiple serious injuries across her body.
A case has been registered against the accused, and investigators are working to establish the complete sequence of events and determine additional charges, if any.
