Menaka Irani, the mother of renowned filmmakers Farah Khan and Sajid Khan, has passed away at the age of 79. The news comes shortly after Farah Khan shared on Instagram that her mother had undergone multiple surgeries.

Farah's Tribute to Her Mother

On July 12, Farah Khan honored her mother's birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post, sharing two photos and a poignant message about her mother's strength. Farah admitted that she had taken her mother for granted and expressed her desire to see her recover so they could continue their "fight" together. She wrote, "We all take our mothers for granted... especially me!" and praised Menaka's bravery and sense of humor despite her health challenges.

Farah also reflected on the past month, acknowledging how much she loves her mother and how Menaka has been the strongest and bravest person she has ever known. She added, "Happy birthday mom! Today’s a good day to come back home ♥️ can’t wait for you to get strong enough to start fighting with me again.. I love you."

Family Background and Personal Memories

Menaka Irani was the sister of actor Daisy Irani and screenwriter Honey Irani, and the aunt of filmmakers Zoya and Farhan Akhtar. She raised Farah and Sajid Khan single-handedly after their father's death.

In a past interview, Farah Khan recalled how her mother had been adamant about her not marrying at a young age. Farah shared that her family had threatened to disown her if she married at 22 without establishing herself first.
