Meta is making significant strides in enhancing its AI capabilities and is set to unveil a new audio feature featuring celebrity voices for its upcoming AI assistant. According to reports from Reuters, the company will announce the names of five notable actors, including John Cena, Judi Dench, Kristen Bell, Awkwafina, and Keegan-Michael Key, who will lend their voices to this innovative digital assistant. Users will have the option to choose a voice for their assistant, a feature reminiscent of OpenAI's ChatGPT voice mode, though it has attracted less controversy.

This audio enhancement will be highlighted at Meta's annual Connect conference, which begins on Wednesday. During this event, the company is expected to introduce its first augmented-reality glasses and share future plans for its hardware lineup, including updates on the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses that integrate the audio AI chatbot.

Meta AI Audio Mode: Key Details

Previously, Meta announced plans to incorporate ChatGPT-like features into its AI models, specifically for WhatsApp. The introduction of recognizable voices from public figures is anticipated to boost user engagement, making interactions more enjoyable and relatable. Initially, the feature is set to launch in the US and other English-speaking regions, with plans for expansion to include other languages like Hindi in future updates.

The audio feature will provide a variety of voice options, featuring different pitches and tones to accommodate individual preferences. Users can expect three distinct UK voices and two US voices, allowing for a personalized interaction that aligns with their regional accents and personal tastes.

Currently, Meta's AI assistant supports text-based conversations and image generation based on user prompts. Earlier efforts to integrate celebrity personas, such as Paris Hilton and Snoop Dogg, did not resonate well with users, prompting a shift in focus towards this more user-friendly audio approach.
