A tragic incident occurred in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area when a large billboard collapsed onto a fuel station, resulting in the loss of at least 14 lives and injuring 74 others. The collapse was attributed to strong dust storms and heavy rain that wreaked havoc in the city.

The incident took place at the Police Ground fuel station along the Eastern Express Highway in Pantnagar, where several cars were trapped under the fallen billboard, as depicted in videos of the scene.

Subsequently, Mumbai Police initiated legal action against Bhavesh Bhide, the owner of the advertising hoarding responsible for the catastrophe. Bhavesh Bhinde, the director of Ego Media Pvt Ltd, the company that installed the hoarding, is under investigation.

In response to the tragedy, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) launched rescue efforts, with support from the National Disaster Response Force. The injured were swiftly transported to Rajawadi Hospital for medical attention.

The BMC issued a notice to the advertising agency responsible for the illegal hoarding, citing its dimensions exceeding permissible limits. The agency was instructed to remove the remaining hoardings lacking valid permission.

Flight operations at Mumbai airport were temporarily halted due to adverse weather conditions, causing diversions and disruptions. The India Meteorological Department warned of ongoing strong winds and advised caution.

Additional incidents of infrastructure damage occurred across the city, including scaffolding collapse on Thane-Belapur Road and tree uprooting in Jogeshwari, injuring an autorickshaw driver.

Moreover, disruptions in metro and suburban railway services were reported, with overhead wires and equipment affected by the inclement weather. Power outages were also documented in various areas, exacerbating the challenges posed by the natural calamity.
