Mumbai Police Detain Chhattisgarh Teen for Hoax Bomb Threats to Flights
A teenager from Chhattisgarh was arrested for allegedly making hoax bomb threats to three flights, following a dispute with a friend
16-10-2024The Mumbai Police detained a teenager from Chhattisgarh on Wednesday for allegedly making hoax bomb threat calls related to three flights. The police received complaints regarding these threats, which were disseminated through social media posts.
During the investigation, authorities identified the minor boy as the source of the threatening posts. He was detained and subsequently handed over to the Juvenile Justice Board after notifying his parents.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the boy was involved in a dispute with a friend over money, which allegedly prompted him to create threatening social media posts using a photo of his friend.
Currently, the police are examining whether this incident is linked to a series of other recent hoax bomb threats affecting multiple flights. In the past three days alone, around a dozen Indian flights, both domestic and international, have received similar threats.
Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu stated that he is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that all necessary measures are implemented to address such actions. "Mumbai Police has apprehended a minor responsible for issuing bomb threats targeting three flights. We will identify and prosecute all others responsible for these disruptions," he assured.
