Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, has been issued a ₹850 crore legal notice by the Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS) regarding "misleading" claims about her cancer recovery. The notice demands evidence supporting the statements made by her husband or compensation for the alleged harm caused by the claims.

The controversy stems from Navjot Singh Sidhu’s recent remarks about his wife's recovery from Stage 4 cancer. Speaking to reporters on November 21, he claimed that specific dietary changes played a crucial role in her survival after doctors allegedly gave her just 40 days to live. Sidhu referred to cancer as a form of "inflammation," suggesting that avoiding foods like sugar, wheat (carbohydrates), maida (refined flour), and milk significantly helped. He further mentioned incorporating remedies such as neem leaves, tulsi, turmeric, and lemon water into her diet.

The CCS notice questions whether Kaur endorses these claims, asking if she believes her recovery was solely due to the diet and if she disregards the role of allopathic treatment. The group expressed concerns that such statements could dissuade cancer patients from continuing life-saving allopathic treatments, thereby putting their health at risk.

“It has the potential to create negativity towards allopathic medicine and compel patients to abandon their treatment, increasing their risks,” the notice stated.

Kaur has been given seven days to respond and provide evidence supporting the claims made by her husband. Failing to do so may result in legal action. The CCS emphasized that the spread of "false information" could endanger patients' lives and urged clarity on her stance regarding the statements.
