Netanyahu Hails Trump’s Iran Strikes as Historic, UN Warns of Global Fallout
Israeli PM Netanyahu praised President Trump’s airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites as a turning point, while the UN cautioned against further escalation
22-06-2025Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has hailed U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to bomb three of Iran’s nuclear facilities, describing it as a defining moment that could reshape history.
Speaking in a televised address, Netanyahu commended Trump’s actions, stating, “This bold move has prevented the world’s most dangerous regime from acquiring the most dangerous weapons. History will remember this day.”
The airstrikes, carried out early Sunday, marked a sharp escalation in tensions between Iran and the West. The United States launched a coordinated attack on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites using advanced B-2 stealth bombers. The mission involved six Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOPs)—a powerful type of bunker-busting bomb, deployed for the first time in such a strike.
Netanyahu revealed that Trump personally called him shortly after the operation and stressed that no other nation could have carried out such a precision assault.
“Operation Rising Lion saw Israel achieve remarkable results, but what the U.S. has accomplished tonight is unparalleled. Only America has the capability to strike deep into fortified nuclear sites with such accuracy,” he said.
Meanwhile, President Trump addressed the American public, reiterating that the mission aimed to dismantle Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities and eliminate the potential for a nuclear threat. He said the operation was conducted in full coordination with Israeli leadership.
Trump also issued a warning to Iran, stating that any retaliatory action would result in more devastating attacks. “Iran must now choose between peace and catastrophe,” he said.
However, the international response has been one of concern. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres labeled the strikes a “highly dangerous escalation” in an already volatile region, warning of far-reaching consequences.
“This situation is teetering on the edge of disaster. There’s a serious risk of this conflict spiraling out of control,” Guterres said in a statement. He urged all parties to exercise restraint and return to diplomacy, stressing, “There is no military solution—only the path of peace offers hope.”
