A Texas-based technology entrepreneur, his wife, their two young children and five others were killed when a private jet crashed onto a highway in Florida on November 1. The Learjet 60, which was flying from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas, plunged onto a multi-lane road and burst into flames.
The nine victims included six passengers and two pilots, with the family of one passenger also confirming the deaths of the entrepreneur, his wife and their children, aged four and two. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating whether ice accumulation, turbulence or human error contributed to the crash.
FAMILY OF FOUR AMONG THE VICTIMS
Adam Robinson, founder and CEO of technology companies RB2B and Retention.com, was travelling with his wife Helen Sharp and their two children.
Robinson had also headed Moltsets and previously worked with financial institutions Lehman Brothers and Barclays. Sharp was an artist.
In a joint statement, the families of some victims remembered Robinson and Sharp as devoted parents, describing their children as the centre of their lives. The statement also praised the couple's warmth and generosity.
Sharp's father, Dudley Sharp, confirmed to The Palm Beach Post that his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren were aboard the aircraft.
THREE OTHER PASSENGERS KILLED
The other passengers were identified as Rachel Reed, Charmi Fehr and Anita Maria Cetina.
Reed and Fehr were remembered in the family statement for their enthusiasm and adventurous spirit. Cetina, who cared for Robinson and Sharp's children, was described as someone deeply loved by the family.
PILOTS IDENTIFIED
The pilot was identified as 55-year-old Jeff Gregory. East Coast Jets, a private charter company where he had reportedly worked, confirmed his death and expressed condolences.
The co-pilot was identified as 20-year-old Nathalia Filgueiras, who obtained her pilot's licence at 17. Her mother, Camila Corteleti, told The New York Times that her daughter loved flying and the experience of seeing the world from above.
Filgueiras had spoken about earning her licence while still in high school in a 2023 interview with a local CBS affiliate.
Her stepfather, Thiago Corteleti, told the New York Post that she sent a message to her boyfriend, also a pilot, around 12.40 pm on November 1, reporting turbulence and ice conditions. The aircraft crashed approximately 10 minutes later in Palm Beach County.
Air traffic control audio from the final moments of the flight also captured a voice apparently reciting the Lord's Prayer as the aircraft descended.
The NTSB is examining the circumstances of the crash, including the possibility that ice accumulation or turbulence affected the aircraft. The investigation is ongoing.
