Reliance Foundation plans to develop a 100-acre residential township in Karjat, Maharashtra, designed to provide a permanent home and comprehensive support to more than 5,000 orphaned children, senior citizens and people with developmental disabilities. The proposed project, named Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray, will combine residential care with healthcare, education, vocational training and community spaces.
Envisioned by Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani, the township aims to offer residents a secure environment where they can live with dignity, build relationships and access opportunities suited to their needs.
According to an announcement by Reliance Industries Limited, the development will feature family-style homes rather than relying solely on institutional care. Gardens and farms will form part of the proposed campus, alongside facilities intended to support residents’ everyday needs and personal development.
Announcing the initiative, Ambani described it as a vision close to her family’s heart, centred on creating a place where people can receive compassionate care while having opportunities to learn, work and celebrate together.
Healthcare, education and vocational training planned
The township is expected to bring together a range of services under one development. Plans include healthcare and care facilities, schools, vocational training opportunities, gardens and agricultural spaces.
A hospital and a training academy are also part of the phased development. These facilities are intended to expand the support available to residents and create opportunities for skill development.
The project is expected to serve approximately 15,000 people in total as its different phases are developed, extending its reach beyond the more than 5,000 people who are expected to receive a lifelong home within the township.
The announcement did not provide a detailed completion schedule for the proposed facilities.
Reliance Foundation expands community welfare focus
The Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray initiative forms part of Reliance Foundation’s broader work in community development and social welfare.
By bringing accommodation, healthcare, education and vocational support together, the proposed township seeks to address the long-term needs of groups who may require sustained care and assistance.
Its family-style residential model is intended to create a community environment while giving residents access to essential services and opportunities for greater participation in everyday life.
The project is planned for Karjat in Maharashtra, with development to take place in phases. Further details on the construction timeline and the rollout of individual facilities have not yet been announced.
