Nita Ambani, chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, and her husband Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, graced the grand opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics on July 26. Their presence was marked by a notable visit to the Eiffel Tower, underscoring their engagement in international sports.
Other high-profile attendees included Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Delta CEO Ed Bastian, Indian actor Ram Charan, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, American singer-songwriter Ariana Grande, and Bernard Arnault.
Following the ceremony, the Ambanis met with French President Emmanuel Macron. The Ambanis’ attendance comes on the heels of their recent celebration of their son Anant Ambani's wedding to Radhika Merchant, a high-profile event that began in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and concluded with a grand celebration in Mumbai on July 15.
Nita Ambani was also recently re-elected to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with unanimous support during the 142nd IOC session. Expressing her gratitude, Ambani said, “I am deeply honoured to be re-elected as a member of the IOC. This milestone signifies India's growing prominence in international sports. I look forward to continuing our efforts to strengthen the Olympic Movement globally.”
Since joining the IOC in 2016 at the Rio Games, Nita Ambani has been a significant advocate for India's sporting ambitions. Her efforts include the inauguration of the first-ever India House at the Paris Olympics, which aims to be a “home away from home” for Indian athletes. This initiative reflects India’s ambition to enhance its global sports presence and its future aspirations to host the Olympic Games.
