Days after numerous NEET aspirants raised concerns about irregularities and mark inflation, National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Subodh Kumar reiterated in a press conference that there was no paper leak involved in the examination.

Kumar clarified that the issues raised primarily affected only six exam centers out of a total of 4,750, and approximately 1,600 candidates were impacted. He emphasized that the integrity of the NEET exam across the country remained intact.

Regarding the controversy surrounding grace marks awarded to NEET candidates, Kumar mentioned that a panel has been established by the Education Ministry to reassess the results of over 1,500 students. However, he assured that the admission process would not be disrupted.

While addressing concerns about the time allocated for the exam, Kumar highlighted the establishment of a grievance redressal committee to investigate the matter, considering reports from exam centers and CCTV footage.

Additionally, he clarified that the compensation with grace marks did not alter the qualifying criteria for NEET-UG, and the panel tasked with reviewing the issue of grace marks is expected to submit its report within a week.

Despite allegations from some NEET aspirants about mark inflation leading to a record number of candidates sharing the top rank, the NTA maintained that there were no irregularities. They attributed the higher scores to changes in NCERT textbooks and the provision of grace marks due to time loss at examination centers.
