Oracle Reportedly Begins Fresh Layoffs, India Teams Said to Be Among Hardest Hit
Social media posts from employees indicate that Oracle has initiated another round of job cuts, with significant impact reported in India and other regions
31-03-2026Fresh reports suggest that Oracle has rolled out a new wave of layoffs, affecting multiple business units, including its computing division. Employees across platforms such as Blind and Reddit claimed that termination emails began arriving early Tuesday morning, in some cases as early as 6 AM, informing staff that their roles had been eliminated effective immediately.
According to online discussions, the workforce reduction is not limited to one geography. Teams in India and Mexico are believed to be among those impacted, although the company has not yet issued an official statement detailing the scale or scope of the cuts.
Posts circulating on X and other forums suggest that the situation may be particularly severe within Oracle’s India offices. One user alleged that in certain teams, nearly half the members were asked to leave. While these claims remain unverified, some employees have estimated that the total reduction could range between 20,000 and 30,000 positions — roughly 18% of the company’s global headcount of around 162,000. These figures have not been formally confirmed.
Several affected workers described the abrupt manner in which the layoffs were handled. Many said they received emails directly from senior leadership without prior discussions with managers or HR representatives. In numerous cases, access to company systems was reportedly disabled shortly after the messages were delivered.
Online accounts reflect the shock among long-serving employees. One individual wrote that they were informed of their termination at 5 AM after more than two decades with the company. Another said they received notice at 6 AM, just weeks before completing four years of service.
The reported job cuts come amid a broader trend in the technology sector. Earlier this year, Amazon announced thousands of layoffs as it redirected investments toward artificial intelligence initiatives. Industry observers note that while AI spending is frequently cited as a reason for restructuring, some analysts believe companies are also using the shift as an opportunity to recalibrate after periods of aggressive hiring.
As of now, Oracle has not publicly confirmed the exact number of roles affected or provided details regarding severance or transition support.
