Over 100 Killed in Israeli Strike on Gaza School Sheltering Displaced Civilians
An Israeli airstrike targeting a school in eastern Gaza, which housed displaced individuals, has resulted in over 100 deaths, as reported by WAFA
10-08-2024Over 100 people were killed and many others were injured in an Israeli airstrike that hit a school sheltering displaced individuals in eastern Gaza, according to a report by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA on Saturday, as cited by Reuters.
This recent strike follows a series of attacks on schools across Gaza in the past week. On August 4, an Israeli strike on a school being used as a shelter in Gaza City resulted in the deaths of 30 people, with several others injured. A day earlier, a strike on Hamama School in Gaza City claimed 17 lives. On August 1, Dalal al-Mughrabi School was hit, killing 15 people.
Israel has continued to target buildings, including schools, in Gaza, claiming that these locations are being used by "terrorists" as "Hamas command control centers" since the beginning of its full-scale military offensive against Hamas on October 7 of the previous year.
The ongoing conflict, which began after Hamas launched a deadly attack on Israel on October 7 last year, has led to more than 40,000 Palestinian deaths in Gaza over the course of the 10-month-long war. The initial attack by Hamas resulted in the deaths of around 1,200 Israelis and the capture of 250 hostages.
