At a public rally in Maharashtra’s Parbhani on Sunday, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi strongly criticized Pakistan for its involvement in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, declaring that the country is "half a century behind India."
Speaking at the event, which was organized to protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, Mr. Owaisi condemned Pakistan’s leadership and brushed aside their threats. “You are not just thirty minutes behind India, you are fifty years behind. Your national budget cannot even match our military’s budget,” he said, taking a direct dig at Islamabad.
He went on to ridicule Pakistan’s repeated mentions of its nuclear arsenal. "If you enter another nation and kill innocent civilians, no country will stay silent," Owaisi warned.
Highlighting the brutality of the Pahalgam attack, Owaisi stated that the terrorists first asked the religion of the victims before killing them. “Which religion do you claim to represent? You are worse than the Khawarij. Your actions prove you are ideological heirs of ISIS," he remarked.
Owaisi also alleged that Pakistan has been nurturing terrorism against India for decades. He asserted that under international law, India could blockade Pakistan’s air force and even target their internet networks using ethical hackers.
Demanding tough action, Owaisi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to economically cripple Pakistan.
The Hyderabad MP also made a passionate appeal to uphold the dignity of Kashmiris, criticizing certain television anchors who he said were tarnishing the image of people from Kashmir. “If Kashmir is an inseparable part of India, then Kashmiris are as well. How can we doubt their loyalty?” he questioned.
He cited examples of Kashmiri civilians who bravely responded during the Pahalgam attack — one who sacrificed his life fighting the terrorists, and another who carried an injured child on his back for 40 minutes to save him.
Turning his attention to domestic politics, Owaisi called on the public to support the protest campaigns against the Waqf (Amendment) Act announced by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB). He urged citizens to participate in the "Batti Gul" protest on April 30 by switching off lights as a mark of dissent.
Owaisi also criticized leaders like Ajit Pawar, Nitish Kumar, Jayant Chaudhary, and Chandrababu Naidu for backing the Waqf amendment. He accused them of betraying the Muslim community and said secular-minded citizens would not forgive them.
In particular, he accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of once again "stabbing people in the back." He also took a swipe at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, alleging that Naidu had jeopardized his son's political future by supporting the Bill.
