Padma Awards 2025: Honoring 139 Exceptional Achievers Across India

The Padma Awards 2025 recognize 139 remarkable individuals, including Duvvur Nageshwar Reddy, MT Vasudevan Nair, Arijit Singh, and P R Sreejesh, for their outstanding contributions to various fields

The prestigious Padma Awards for 2025 have been announced, recognizing 139 individuals for their outstanding contributions across various fields. The awards, unveiled on the eve of India’s 76th Republic Day, include seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri recipients.

Notable figures in the Padma Vibhushan category include acclaimed Malayalam writer and filmmaker MT Vasudevan Nair, former Chief Justice of India Jagdish Singh Khehar, and violin maestro L Subramaniam. Posthumous honors were awarded to Sharda Sinha, a celebrated folk singer, and Osamu Suzuki, former chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation.

The Padma Bhushan recipients list features Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas (posthumously), and economist Bibek Debroy. Hockey star PR Sreejesh and actor Nandamuri Balakrishna are also among those recognized.

The Padma Shri awards celebrate achievers like singer Arijit Singh, cricketer R Ashwin, Paralympic archer Harvinder Singh, theatre director Barry John, and Grammy-winning music composer Ricky Kej.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the awardees, calling their contributions inspirational and impactful. "Their dedication to excellence and service to society embodies the spirit of India," he said.

The Padma Awards, conferred in diverse fields such as public service, sports, arts, literature, science, and medicine, are India’s highest civilian honors. Recipients are selected through a rigorous process, ensuring their achievements resonate with the nation’s ethos of hard work and innovation.
