Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Neeraj Chopra for his remarkable performance in the men’s javelin throw at the Paris Olympics on August 8. Chopra secured a silver medal, becoming the first Indian track and field athlete to win back-to-back Olympic medals, following his gold medal victory at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

In a tweet, PM Modi lauded Chopra’s achievement, calling him a symbol of excellence. He praised Chopra's consistency and brilliance, expressing national pride in his success. Modi’s message highlighted Chopra's role in inspiring future athletes and bringing pride to the nation.

Chopra's best throw in the final was 89.45 meters, achieved on his second attempt, which was his personal best at the Olympics. The gold medal was claimed by Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who set a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters. Chopra’s performance was also notable for surpassing his previous Olympic best of 89.34 meters, which helped him secure the top spot in the qualification round.
