Prime Minister Narendra Modi begins a spiritual retreat in Kanniyakumari, observing a 45-hour meditation at the revered Vivekananda Rock Memorial
30-05-2024Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a spiritual retreat at the revered Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu, marking the southernmost tip of mainland India. Commencing his meditation session on Thursday evening, he will observe a 45-hour period of deep reflection until the evening of June 1.
During this period, PM Modi will adhere to a liquid diet, consuming nourishing beverages like coconut water and grape juice. The meditation takes place at the Dhyan Mandapam, echoing the spiritual practices of Swami Vivekananda over a century ago.
Before commencing his meditation, PM Modi paid homage at the Bhagavathi Amman temple, clad in traditional attire. Engaging in prayers and circumambulating the sanctum sanctorum, he received blessings from the temple priests, who performed special rituals in his honor.
Renowned for his post-election spiritual sojourns, PM Modi's visit to Kanniyakumari follows similar journeys to Kedarnath in 2019 and Shivaji’s Pratapgarh in 2014. As the Lok Sabha election unfolds across seven phases, culminating in results on June 4, PM Modi and the BJP anticipate a favorable outcome to secure another term in office.
In anticipation of PM Modi's visit, security measures have been heightened, with 2,000 police personnel deployed to ensure his safety. The Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy are also on alert to maintain vigilance throughout his stay.
