Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a three-day visit to the United States, where he will participate in the fourth Quad Leaders' Summit on September 21 and deliver a speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The Quad Summit, hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden in his hometown of Wilmington, will bring together leaders from India, the U.S., Japan, and Australia. "I look forward to meeting President Biden, Prime Minister Albanese, and Prime Minister Kishida at the Quad Summit," PM Modi tweeted. "The forum has become a key platform for like-minded countries to collaborate on peace, progress, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. My meeting with President Biden will allow us to further strengthen the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership," he added.

During his visit, PM Modi will also meet members of the Indian diaspora and engage with American business leaders, with a focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted these sectors as crucial for fostering closer ties between the two nations.

The Quad Summit will focus on several global issues, including the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, maritime security, emerging technologies, and a new cancer-fighting initiative. India is set to host the next Quad Summit.

On September 23, PM Modi will address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the UN General Assembly, an event that will be attended by numerous world leaders. While in New York, he is also scheduled to interact with the Indian community on September 22.

Ahead of the summit, the White House announced the formation of bipartisan House and Senate Quad Caucuses, with U.S. Representative Ami Bera stating, "The Quad Caucus demonstrates our shared commitment to fostering peace, stability, and development in the region." U.S. lawmaker Rob Wittman echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of the partnership between the U.S., Japan, India, and Australia for stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Quad ministerial meetings began during the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump and have enjoyed bipartisan support over the past eight years.
