Currently in New York for a three-day visit, PM Modi addressed the UN's Summit of the Future, which highlights pressing global conflicts. A video released by news agency PTI depicted the leaders sharing a hug and handshake, with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar also in attendance.
This marks PM Modi's third meeting with President Zelenskyy in roughly three months. In August, the Indian Prime Minister visited Ukraine, emphasizing India's advocacy for peace in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri provided insights into the discussions, noting that they encompassed bilateral matters and the Russia-Ukraine situation. "This is the third meeting between the two leaders in the space of probably three months," Misri stated. He added that Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for India’s engagement and acknowledged PM Modi's efforts towards peace.
PM Modi's trip to New York followed his participation in the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, where he also held bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden. Additionally, he addressed a large gathering of the Indian-American community at the 'Modi & US' mega event in Long Island and interacted with top tech leaders and CEOs at a roundtable conference.
