On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended BJP leader Anurag Thakur’s speech in the Lok Sabha, calling it a “must-hear” address. Modi praised Thakur’s speech on the microblogging platform X, highlighting its blend of facts and humor that aimed to counter the points made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Modi described the speech as effectively exposing the "dirty politics" of the INDI Alliance.

The controversy in the Lok Sabha arose when Anurag Thakur’s comments were seen as a rebuttal to Rahul Gandhi's address on the Union Budget. Thakur’s remark, “The one whose caste is not known is talking about the census,” was met with accusations from Gandhi, who claimed Thakur’s comments were both insulting and abusive.

In response, Gandhi stated, “Those who speak up for Adivasis, Dalits, and other backward communities are often subjected to abuse. I am willing to accept these abuses. Anurag Thakur has indeed insulted and abused me, but I do not seek an apology.”
