09-02-2025Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress following the BJP’s sweeping victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, ridiculing the party for securing what he termed a “double hat-trick of zeros.”
Speaking at the BJP headquarters, PM Modi highlighted that the Congress had failed to win a single seat in Delhi across six consecutive elections, including both Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.
“In Delhi, Congress has hit a double hat-trick of zero. The country’s oldest party has been unable to open its account in the capital for six straight elections, yet they seem to be awarding themselves a gold medal for defeat,” Modi remarked.
His comments came after the BJP secured a dominant 48 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly, while AAP managed to win 22. The Congress, once a formidable force in the city, once again failed to win any seats, continuing its losing streak from the last several elections.
Since 2014, Congress has drawn a blank in Delhi, failing to secure a single seat in three Assembly elections (2015, 2020, and 2025) and three Lok Sabha polls (2014, 2019, and 2024).
Sharpening his criticism, Modi described Congress as a “parasitic party” that not only weakens itself but also drags down its allies. "Congress feeds off its coalition partners, steals their issues, and tries to take over their vote banks. It not only sinks itself but also pulls its allies down with it," he asserted.
He further claimed that the party has lost public trust and now survives by adopting the language and agenda of its partners. “These people are celebrating their repeated failures, but the reality is that the country has moved past Congress,” he said.
