PM Modi’s AI Stand Backed by US VP JD Vance at Paris Summit
At the Paris AI Summit, US Vice President JD Vance supported PM Modi’s stance that AI will boost productivity rather than replace human jobs
11-02-2025Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s perspective on artificial intelligence (AI) and job security received strong backing from US Vice President JD Vance at the Paris AI Action Summit. Vance echoed PM Modi’s stance, emphasizing that AI would enhance productivity rather than replace human workers.
"I appreciate PM Modi's point. AI will facilitate and make people more productive. It is not going to replace human beings; it will never replace human beings," Vance said, highlighting that concerns about AI replacing jobs often miss the larger picture. He added that AI has the potential to make societies "more productive, prosperous, and free."
PM Modi, co-chairing the summit with French President Emmanuel Macron, had earlier addressed widespread fears regarding AI-driven job displacement. "Jobs are AI’s most feared disruption, but history has shown that work does not disappear due to technology. Instead, its nature evolves, and new jobs emerge," he stated.
The Prime Minister underscored the need for continuous "skilling and reskilling" to prepare for an AI-driven future. He also called for democratizing technology and ensuring AI remains people-centric, a view that Vance also endorsed.
On his first international visit as Vice President, Vance cautioned against excessive AI regulations, warning that overregulation in Europe could stifle industry growth. He reiterated the Trump administration’s commitment to developing AI systems "free from ideological bias" while safeguarding free speech in the US.
The Paris AI Action Summit, co-chaired by PM Modi and President Macron, brought together global leaders to discuss AI governance, technological advancements, and international collaboration in shaping the future of AI.
