PM Modi Unveils Phase 1 of Noida International Airport at Jewar, Project Cost Pegged at Rs 29,560 Crore
The newly launched airport is set to transform Jewar into a key aviation gateway for north India
28-03-2026Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the first phase of the Noida International Airport, a landmark infrastructure project developed at an initial cost of Rs 11,282 crore. The full project outlay stands at an estimated Rs 29,560 crore and is expected to significantly enhance air connectivity across northern India.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Yogi Adityanath, along with several Union and state ministers.
Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann said the new facility would serve as a major link for the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh to domestic as well as international destinations. He added that the airport aims to blend global operational standards with local warmth and service.
Ahead of the launch, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak described the project as a landmark achievement and a major infrastructure boost for the country. He said the airport would play a vital role in strengthening economic growth, improving passenger convenience and advancing the vision of a developed India.
With operations set to expand in phases, the Jewar airport is being positioned as a future aviation hub capable of handling large passenger volumes and supporting regional development.
