PM Narendra Modi Arrives in US for Quad Summit and UN Engagement

21-09-2024Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in the United States on Saturday for a three-day visit, where he will participate in the annual Quad summit and deliver a keynote address at a prominent event at the United Nations.
Upon arrival at Philadelphia International Airport, the Prime Minister was greeted warmly by a large gathering of the Indian diaspora, with whom he interacted before heading to his accommodations in Delaware.
At the Hotel duPont in Delaware, Modi was welcomed with traditional Indian music and dance, including a Garba performance. He took time to engage with the Indian community once again, expressing his appreciation for their contributions and enthusiasm.
In a tweet, Modi shared his excitement about connecting with the Indian diaspora, saying, "It’s always wonderful to meet with the Indian community, which has made significant contributions in the USA across various sectors. I look forward to the Modi and US event in New York City on Sunday evening."
During his visit, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden and other global leaders, focusing on areas of mutual interest such as Indo-Pacific cooperation and pressing global issues, including the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. The Quad summit, scheduled to take place in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden’s hometown, is expected to reveal new initiatives aimed at enhancing regional peace and security.
In addition to the summit, Modi will also attend a roundtable discussion with CEOs of leading American technology companies, focusing on areas like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and semiconductor technology. The visit will also include a major event with the Indian diaspora in Long Island, New York.
Modi expressed his enthusiasm ahead of the Quad summit, stating that he looked forward to working alongside US President Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to advance the group's shared goals of peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.
After the Quad summit, Modi will travel to New York to participate in the 'Summit of the Future' at the United Nations General Assembly, where he will address global leaders on key issues related to peace and development.
