A digital billboard in Delhi's bustling Connaught Place unexpectedly displayed explicit content late Thursday night, triggering alarm among onlookers. The incident occurred at the H-block of the iconic market, one of the busiest spots in the capital.

Authorities were alerted by a bystander, who managed to capture a brief video of the incident before the footage was taken down by New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) officials. According to police, a large crowd had gathered around the billboard during the incident.

A formal investigation is underway, with a case filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Information Technology Act. Authorities are focusing on identifying those responsible for the incident.

In a statement, the NDMC suggested that the display may have been compromised through sophisticated hacking techniques. The civic body added that it manages two types of panels in the area—one for advertisements and another with interactive touchscreen features—both of which are safeguarded by secure servers.

Connaught Place, a historic commercial district in the heart of Delhi, sees high foot traffic daily, especially on weekends. This isn't the first time such a breach has occurred in public; a similar event took place last year at Patna railway station when explicit content was aired on a screen meant for advertisements.
