President Droupadi Murmu has officially invited Narendra Modi to form the government after the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) elected him as their parliamentary party leader. Modi is set to be sworn in as Prime Minister for the third time on June 9 at 6 PM.

Following his meeting with President Murmu, Modi addressed the media, stating that he had received the formal letter designating him as Prime Minister and discussed the timing of the swearing-in ceremony. The President also requested the list of ministers who would be taking the oath alongside him.

The NDA coalition, comprising the BJP, Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal United (JDU), Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, and others, boasts a total of 293 MPs, comfortably surpassing the majority requirement in the 543-member Lok Sabha. The alliance submitted its list of supporting MPs to the President.

Earlier in the day, NDA leaders convened at the Central Hall of the old Parliament Building. The gathering included senior alliance leaders and chief ministers. Prominent figures such as Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar, Eknath Shinde, Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Anupriya Patel, and Pawan Kalyan were present, along with senior BJP leaders.

Rajnath Singh, a senior BJP leader, proposed a resolution endorsing Modi's leadership, which was unanimously supported by the NDA MPs. Subsequently, the list of parliamentarians backing Narendra Modi was handed over to the President.
