Pune Lohagad Fort Murder: Accused Allegedly Planned to Permanently Disable Ketan Agarwal in Staged Accident

Police investigating Ketan Agarwal's alleged murder at Pune's Lohagad Fort suspect that Siya Goel and Chetan Chaudhary initially explored ways to make his death or permanent disability appear accidental before allegedly settling on a plan to push him from the fort

The investigation into the alleged killing of Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort in Pune has uncovered details of a suspected conspiracy that investigators believe was discussed and modified over several weeks.

According to police sources, accused Siya Goel and Chetan Chaudhary allegedly first considered hiring a contract killer to cause Ketan severe, life-changing injuries in a staged accident. The alleged objective was to create a believable reason for cancelling Ketan and Siya's planned Bali trip on June 6 and eventually ending their upcoming marriage.

Investigators claim the accused discussed different ways of disrupting the relationship without immediately raising suspicion. Among the possibilities allegedly considered was staging an accident or robbery that would leave Ketan permanently disabled. Police sources said investigators believe Siya thought that if Ketan suffered the loss of a limb, she could convince her family to abandon the proposed wedding.

The probe has also focused on the alleged attempts to avoid leaving direct evidence of a murder. Investigators suspect the accused wanted any fatal incident to look like an accident rather than a deliberate killing. Police sources further claimed that Siya conducted online searches about whether a person could detect the presence of slow-acting poison.

Lonavala Locations Allegedly Scouted

As the alleged plan developed, investigators said the accused began looking for possible locations in and around Lonavala. Police sources said Tiger Point and Visapur Fort were among the places considered before Lohagad Fort was allegedly selected.

Investigators believe discussions about pushing Ketan from the fort had begun before May 31. Police sources said Siya and Ketan visited Lohagad on that date, with investigators suspecting that the visit was partly intended to assess the location, including its terrain and possible escape routes.

According to the investigation, Siya allegedly chose not to act during that visit despite what police believe was an opportunity, apparently because of concerns about the potential risks.

After further alleged discussions with Chetan, investigators claim Lohagad Fort was ultimately settled on as the location.

Second Visit Allegedly Abandoned

Police sources said Siya and Ketan returned to Lohagad Fort on June 14. Investigators allege that the suspected plan was considered again but was not carried out.

During questioning, police reportedly claim Siya told investigators that she abandoned the alleged plan after noticing a snake close to the intended location.

The investigation has also examined the couple's upcoming plans. Ketan had reportedly intended to mark Siya's birthday with a trip to a resort in Mahabaleshwar on June 19. Investigators suspect that the accused allegedly decided to bring forward their plan by a day and return to Lohagad on June 18 instead.

Police Suspect Rehearsals Before Alleged Crime

According to police sources, investigators believe Siya and Chetan spent the period between June 14 and June 18 discussing and practising how a person could be pushed from a height.

The alleged rehearsals reportedly took place at Beverly Hills in Pune. Investigators suspect the pair analysed why their earlier attempt had not gone ahead and subsequently made changes to their alleged plan.

Police sources claim that the final execution of the alleged conspiracy took place at Lohagad Fort on June 18, where Ketan Agarwal died after allegedly being pushed from the elevated site.

The allegations form part of the ongoing police investigation, and the accused's version of events and the evidence presented before the court will determine the case's legal course.
