In compliance with bail conditions set by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), the 17-year-old boy involved in a fatal Porsche crash in Pune, which resulted in the deaths of two techies, has submitted a 300-word essay on road safety. The submission, made on Wednesday according to a PTI report, fulfills the board's requirement after the teen was released from an observation home following a Bombay High Court ruling that declared his initial detention unlawful.
The incident, occurring on May 19 in Kalyani Nagar, allegedly involved the teenager driving a Porsche under the influence of alcohol, leading to a collision with a two-wheeler and the subsequent deaths. The bail terms sparked public outcry over perceived leniency, prompting police to request a revision from the JJB. Subsequently, on May 22, the board sent the teenager to an observation home.
In another development, a Pune court on July 2 granted bail to the boy's father and grandfather. They were accused of kidnapping and unlawfully confining their family driver to deflect responsibility from the teenager. The driver was allegedly coerced into admitting culpability for the accident, claiming he was behind the wheel instead of the juvenile.
The boy's father, Vishal Agarwal, a prominent builder, remains in custody due to an unrelated cheating case, while his grandfather has been released. The police investigation also revealed attempts to cover up the incident, including allegations of tampering with blood samples at the hospital where the teenager was taken for sobriety tests.
The case has sparked widespread outrage across the country, with demands for justice for the victims and scrutiny over the handling of the incident by authorities and the teenager's influential family.
