A 27-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by an elderly man in Pune while riding her two-wheeler with her children. The woman, identified as Jerlyn D'Silva, claimed the man attacked her after she didn't allow him to overtake.

Pune Police arrested the man and his wife, who was with him during the incident, based on the victim's statement.

In a video posted on Instagram, D'Silva described the assault, which occurred on the Baner Pashan Link Road. She alleged the man got out of his vehicle, punched her in the face, and pulled her hair, leaving her bloodied. The video shows D'Silva with visible injuries.

"An old man followed us for two kilometers, overspeeding. He intercepted me, got out furiously, punched me twice, and pulled my hair. He didn’t care about the kids... How safe is the city? Why are people behaving like maniacs? I want this man punished for what he did to me," she said. "I had two kids with me; anything could have happened."

Following the incident, Pune Police filed an FIR against the man under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The man and his wife were subsequently arrested.

DCP Vijayakumar Magar stated, "The case has been registered at Chaturshrungi Police Station, and further investigations are underway."

This incident adds to a series of high-profile road accidents in Pune. Last week, an SUV driven by the son of NCP leader Bandu Gakwad crashed into a tempo-truck, injuring two people. In May, a teen driving a Porsche at high speed collided with a bike, killing two software engineers, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta.
