Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Congress party, has opted to relinquish his Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, choosing instead to continue representing Raebareli, a stronghold of his family.

This decision was made following discussions among senior Congress leaders at Mallikarjun Kharge's residence in New Delhi.

With Rahul Gandhi's decision to retain Raebareli, his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will step into the electoral arena by contesting from Wayanad in the upcoming bypoll.

This move comes as Rahul Gandhi secured victories in both Wayanad, Kerala, and Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, during the recent general elections, and is in compliance with electoral laws requiring him to vacate one of the seats within 14 days of the election results.

Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence that both constituencies will be well represented with "two MPs," and Priyanka Gandhi assured that the people of Wayanad will continue to receive dedicated attention and leadership.
