Congress MP Rahul Gandhi criticized police inaction in the Badlapur sexual assault case, stating that "more effort is made to cover up crime than to deliver justice."

In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi expressed his frustration over the delay in justice for two kindergarten girls who were assaulted in Badlapur, Thane district. The FIR was registered 12 hours after the complaint was lodged, prompting public protests and outrage against the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra.

"Why do victims now need to protest just to file an FIR?" Gandhi questioned. He added that delaying justice discourages victims and emboldens criminals.

The Congress leader also highlighted recent incidents of violence against women in other states, including West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, and urged society to reflect on the safety of women. "Justice is every citizen's right and should not be subject to the whims of the police and administration," he stated.

Gandhi called for a collective effort from governments, citizens, and political parties to create a safer environment for women.
