The MP MLA court in Ranchi has summoned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a case concerning alleged objectionable remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, ordering his appearance on June 11.
According to a complaint filed by BJP worker Naveen Jha, Rahul Gandhi made derogatory comments about Amit Shah during a 2018 event, alleging that only the BJP could elevate a murderer to the position of national president.
Previous summons were issued against Rahul Gandhi by the Ranchi MP MLA court following the complaint. Despite Rahul Gandhi's appeal to the Jharkhand High Court contesting the summons, relief was not granted.
With the High Court's dismissal of the petition, the MP MLA court scheduled a subsequent hearing, directing Rahul Gandhi to appear on June 11.
Vinod Sahu, representing petitioner Naveen Jha, remarked that the course of action against Rahul Gandhi and the court's decision would become evident after June 11.
In a separate case in Chaibasa pertaining to the same remarks, Rahul Gandhi remains on bail, with the High Court staying proceedings in the lower court. The Jharkhand High Court did not order any coercive action against Rahul Gandhi.
Recently, the Jharkhand High Court imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on Rahul Gandhi for failing to file a response within the prescribed timeframe regarding the case in the Chaibasa court.
