A month following the announcement of Lok Sabha election results, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has urged the public to avoid using derogatory language towards former Union Minister Smriti Irani and other leaders.

In a tweet on Friday, Gandhi emphasized, "Winning and losing happen in life. I urge everyone to refrain from using derogatory language and being nasty towards Smt. Smriti Irani or any other leader for that matter." He further added, "Humiliating and insulting people is a sign of weakness, not strength."

In the election results declared on June 4, Smriti Irani, who had previously defeated Rahul Gandhi in the Congress stronghold of Amethi in 2019, lost the constituency to Congress loyalist Kishori Lal Sharma by a significant margin of over 1.65 lakh votes.

Following her defeat, Irani expressed gratitude to BJP supporters and leaders, stating, "I express my gratitude to all the BJP party workers and supporters, those who have worked in the service of the constituency and the party with utmost dedication and fidelity... Today, I am grateful to PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath that their governments have completed the pending works of 30 years in just 5 years. I congratulate those who win. I will continue to be in the service of the people of Amethi.”

In Raebareli, Rahul Gandhi triumphed over BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh, a minister in the Yogi Adityanath cabinet, securing a victory with over 3 lakh votes.
