Telecom giants Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have recently increased prices for their mobile prepaid and postpaid plans to enhance average revenue per user. Reliance Jio's plans saw a hike of approximately 10 to 27 percent, including those with long-term validity. Despite these changes, Jio has brought back its Rs 999 plan, which was previously raised to Rs 1,199 following a tariff hike on July 3, 2024.

The reinstated Rs 999 plan now comes with additional benefits, including extended validity. Initially, this plan offered 84 days of validity, but it now provides 98 days, giving users an extra 14 days. However, to accommodate the longer validity, Jio has reduced the daily data allowance. The plan now includes 2GB of data per day, totaling 196GB over the entire period, compared to the previous 3GB per day, which amounted to 252GB.

Moreover, the Rs 999 plan grants users access to 5G speeds in areas covered by Jio's True 5G service. Users with 5G-compatible devices can enjoy unlimited 5G data. In addition to the data benefits, the plan offers 100 SMS per day and unlimited voice calling, making it a comprehensive option for both data and voice services.

In comparison, Airtel offers a Rs 979 plan with similar features, including 2GB of data per day, 100 SMS daily, and unlimited voice calls, valid for 84 days. This plan also provides unlimited 5G data and includes a free Amazon Prime membership for 56 days, adding extra value for subscribers.

For users seeking more 5G data options, both Airtel and Jio provide unlimited 5G data with plans offering at least 2GB of 4G data per day. Jio’s minimum monthly plan costs Rs 349, while Airtel’s starts at Rs 379. To further extend 5G access, both companies offer 5G booster plans priced at Rs 51, Rs 101, and Rs 151, which provide additional 4G data and enable 5G access when paired with an existing plan.
