Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, along with his family, visited the Taj Mahal as part of their India trip, blending cultural experiences with personal reflections
16-02-2025Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, along with his family, visited the renowned Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, during their ongoing trip to India on Saturday. Accompanying Sunak were his wife Akshata Murty, mother-in-law and Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty, and their children, Anoushka and Krishna.
The family arrived at the iconic monument under heavy security, with both Indian and British personnel ensuring their safety. Sunak was seen waving and acknowledging the gathered crowd in a video captured during the visit.
Earlier in their India visit, Sunak was spotted playing tennis ball cricket at the famous Parsee Gymkhana in Mumbai, engaging with local players. Sharing a photo on X, Sunak wrote, "No trip to Mumbai is complete without a game of tennis ball cricket," as onlookers watched him bat.
While addressing attendees at the gymkhana’s anniversary event, Sunak expressed his admiration for the institution, saying, "It's wonderful to be here, celebrating such a historic establishment. There’s so much heritage and so much to look forward to. Fortunately, I didn’t get out too many times this morning."
Sunak and his father-in-law, Narayana Murthy, co-founder of Infosys, also participated in the Jaipur Literature Festival. Sudha Murty joined her daughter Akshata Murty in a session titled "My Mother, Myself," where they shared personal insights.
During the discussion, Sudha Murty spoke about her childhood, recalling, "My father was a doctor, and he considered his hospital a temple. He taught me the value of dedication to one’s work."
She also emphasized the significance of imparting good values to children, adding, "I took a break from my career to devote time to raising my children. A mother’s role is to instill moral principles in her kids."
Rishi Sunak, who stepped down as leader of the Conservative Party after a significant electoral defeat last year, currently holds the position of Member of Parliament for Richmond and Northallerton in Yorkshire.
