Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma recently shared the joy of welcoming his newborn baby with a heartfelt message on social media. He posted, “Family, the one where we are four,” and revealed the birth date as November 15, 2024. Rohit and his wife Ritika Sajdeh, whom he married in December 2015, first met in 2008.

Rohit had previously become a father in December 2018 when his daughter Samaira was born during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. As the opening Test against Australia approaches on November 22 at the Perth Stadium, it remains unclear if Rohit will be available for the match. If he is unavailable, there is speculation that Jasprit Bumrah could step in as captain, following his role as vice-captain during the recent series against New Zealand.

While there has been no official confirmation about Rohit’s participation, Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian men’s team, said the situation is still uncertain. Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar suggested that Rohit should relinquish the captaincy for the entire series if he misses the opening match.

However, former Australian captain Aaron Finch defended Rohit, emphasizing that personal milestones, such as the birth of a child, should take priority over professional commitments. "If you need to stay at home because your wife's having a baby, that's such a beautiful moment. Take all the time you need," Finch stated on the Around the Wicket show.

Following the Perth Test, India will play the Day-Night Test in Adelaide starting December 6, followed by matches in Brisbane, the Boxing Day Test, and the New Year’s Test in Sydney.
