Sania Mirza to Undertake Hajj Pilgrimage Following Split from Shoaib Malik
Indian tennis star Sania Mirza announces her spiritual journey to Hajj, seeking personal transformation months after her separation from cricketer Shoaib Malik
09-06-2024Indian tennis legend Sania Mirza has announced her upcoming Hajj pilgrimage, marking a significant personal journey just five months after her separation from cricketer Shoaib Malik. Recently retired from professional tennis, Sania had been serving as a commentator at the French Open 2024. On Sunday, she took to social media to share her excitement and reflections on this spiritual endeavor.
"As I prepare for this transformative experience, I humbly ask for your forgiveness for any wrongdoings and shortcomings," Sania wrote in her post, expressing her hope that Allah will accept her prayers and guide her on this sacred path.
Feeling fortunate and grateful, Sania asked for thoughts and prayers from her followers, aiming to return from the pilgrimage as a better person with a humble heart and stronger faith.
In addition to her pilgrimage news, Sania recently appeared on a popular comedy show with Kapil Sharma, where she reminisced about her illustrious tennis career. She particularly highlighted her successful partnership with Martina Hingis during 2015-16.
"All the women here can relate to this... when you're winning consecutively, athletes call it being 'in the zone'. That’s the best way to describe what Martina and I had during those six months," Sania shared. She recounted their unbeatable streak from August 2015 until their first loss in March 2016, describing it as a rare and humbling experience.
Sania was joined on the show by fellow sports icons Mary Kom and Saina Nehwal, where they collectively discussed their careers and achievements.
