A six-storey building in Surat's Sachin Pali village collapsed following several days of incessant rain, leading to fears that several people are trapped under the debris. One woman has been rescued alive, and 15 others have been reported injured.

Shocking images from the site reveal the remains of the eight-year-old building, with large concrete slabs piled into a mountain of debris. Five families were inside the building at the time of the collapse, increasing concerns about those trapped beneath the concrete.

Emergency responders, including police and fire department officials, quickly arrived at the scene and began rescue operations. Dramatic visuals show rescue workers climbing through the wreckage in search of survivors. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has also been called in to assist with the rescue efforts.

Eyewitnesses described the chaotic moments when the building collapsed and how locals immediately rushed to help those trapped. Officials indicated that despite the building's relatively young age, it was in a dilapidated state, with most flats unoccupied.

Surat District Collector Dr. Saurabh Parghi confirmed the collapse and noted the ongoing rescue efforts. "We rescued one woman recently. According to her, four or five more people could be trapped inside. NDRF and SDRF teams are working diligently, and we are hopeful of rescuing the rest soon," he said.

Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot expressed confidence that the trapped individuals would be rescued shortly. "We can hear voices from within the rubble, and we aim to rescue them within an hour or two," he stated.

The administration has announced an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.
