Sharad Pawar has filed a fresh petition with the Supreme Court, requesting that his nephew, Ajit Pawar, be prohibited from using the Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) iconic "Clock" symbol in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.

In his petition, Sharad Pawar argues that Ajit Pawar should seek a new election symbol to prevent voter confusion. He highlighted the significance of the "Clock" symbol, which has been closely associated with the NCP for the past 25 years under his leadership as National President. Sharad Pawar also expressed concerns that allowing Ajit to use the symbol could mislead voters and compromise the fairness of the elections.

The plea further noted instances of voter confusion observed during the recent parliamentary elections and warned that the issue could be more pronounced in the smaller constituencies of the assembly polls. To ensure a transparent electoral process, Sharad Pawar urged the court to mandate that Ajit Pawar choose a different symbol for his faction.

Sharad Pawar is currently using the "Man Blowing a Turha" symbol, which was temporarily assigned by the Election Commission of India after the NCP split.

The Supreme Court is set to hear the case on October 15.
